Second, did anybody see the first intermission report on VS during the Stars game tonight? They were talking about how there’s bad blood between the Habs and the Flyers now, due to a sucker punch thrown by Kostopoulos on Timonen. While I agree that it’s distressing to see this sort of crap on the ice, I have absolutely no pity for Philly. I can respect Carbonneau’s statement after the fact, even if I don’t agree with the justification of the hit.
“They’re one team that should not talk,” Carbonneau said. “They played 82 games and had the most suspensions. All [Kostopoulos] did was face-wash him. He didn’t cross-check him in the face.”
Even more so, I like Brian Engblom’s measured response. It pretty much amounted to:
