It’s good to be home. The Christmas trip was nice, but there’s something about the warmth of my own bed that’s just right.
While I was up Buffalo way I had the opportunity to get a short riding lessons from Amy (shameless plug: Heart to Heart Morgans) and I think I might be getting over my [...]

These eyes have seen inhuman sights…

I figured I have a break in my ability to ride this week (big snow and ice storm, plus vacation in Buffalo) so I might as well take a chance. Today I got my first contact lenses and to be honest they are bugging the shit out of me.
I’ve avoided them for years because I [...]

Foolish and wrong

I’ve been looking forward to Sabres/Devils tonight, but I missed the news that Gerbe was hurt. I was really hoping to see a Superflyweight title bout… Gerbe and Gionta were getting quite feisty on Thursday and now there won’t be a match. Damn you, Jamie.
A really good bruise

Anybody that comes here with frequency knows that I (and my readers in general) love a good bruise.
While discussing holiday plans with LizzieB earlier this week I had mentioned how I would like to go snowmobiling if there was enough powder around Christmas. She replied with a No Thank You, the idea of hurtling through [...]

I’m coming into Buffalo for Christmas time and there’s always talk of doing something cool. Today’s discussion centers around sno-tubing, tobogganing and snowmobiling (snow permitting, of course), but there’s another idea floating around.
Toronto has forty-nine (!!!) outdoor, public skating rinks. Maybe a Boxing Day border crossing?
Kill the rookie.

For those who missed it, Leafs’ rookie forward Andre Deveaux must die. According to Rob Ray, Deveaux skated by the Sabres bench during the first half of tonight’s tilt and told Lindy Ruff to quit smiling or he (Deveaux) would rip Lindy’s moustache off.
This unchecked aggression against Lindy’s moustache will NOT be tolerated!!!
A number of [...]

Nathan Gerbe is the smallest player in the NHL, right? I mean Gionta is listed at 5′7″ and he’s 2 inches shorter than St. Louis…. am I missing anybody else?
If Chara hits this kid, does the impact of his ribs count as a hit to the head?
Gerbe is an abuser…

More than a few people noticed that Gerbe took an “Abuse of the Official” penalty last night. While it sounds self explanatory, the call seems to have confused a number of people since it’s rarely seen/used. The penalty is covered under Rule 40 of the NHL Rule Book:
Rule 40 – Abuse of the Official
General Description [...]
